Original two toned hard-grained green cover and red spine. An embossed serpent motif on the green cover. The title and author name along the spine in gold. Marbled end papers. The book contains illustrations of mythology and art in India in the first and fourth centuries after Christ, including the sculptures of the Buddhist topes at Sanchi and Amaravati.
