additional information

Original brown cover with the title, volume and year of publication inscribed in gold along the spine. Gold gilded pages. The book is dedicated to His Majesty Louis Philippe, King of France. The three volumes are a critical inquiry into Antient Armour as it existed in Europe, particularly in Great Britain from the Norman Conquest to the Reign of King Charles II. Sir Samuel Rush Meyrick, the author of this book, was a prolific collector of arms and armoury and this particular book is considered to be his greatest work.
