Dodge is an American automobile manufacturer founded by the brothers John and Horace Dodge in the year 1913. The company supplied spare parts to Detroit based car manufacturers before they started building and assembling units. The transition did not require an extensive span of time, considering the enthusiastic brothers started manufacturing operations in the year 1914. Thereafter in the year 1928, Walter Chrysler, the founder of Chrysler Corporation acquired the company from John and Horace Dodge. This purchase made Chrysler the third largest automobile manufacturer almost overnight. From here on Dodge served as Chrysler’s mid-sized brand.
