Sir Isaac Vivian Alexander Richards was born on the 7th of March in the year 1952.
He made his first-class cricket debut in 1972 at the age of 19. Sir Vivian Richards
captained the West Indies cricket team in 50 Test matches (1984 – 1991) and is the
onlyWest Indies captain never to lose a Test series. He had a successful CricketWorld
Cup campaign in the year 1975 and won the tournament. Sir Vivian Richards refused
to accept a ‘blank-cheque’ offer to play for a rebelWest Indies squad in South Africa
during the Apartheid era in 1983 and once again in 1984. He retired for international Test cricket in the year 1991.
