Akash Choyal was born in Udaipur in 1974. Art and creativity is part of his family lineage, his father Shail Choyal, mother Surjeet Kaur and his Grandfather, P.N. Choyal were well-known artists. His father and grandfather were students of Slade College of Art in London.
He completed his BFA from the Faculty of fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University, Vadodara in 1997 followed by his post-graduation from the Delhi College of Arts in 1999. His inclination towards volume and space inspired him to master, 3D-5D holographic technique. He has created a niche for himself in the field of 3D illusion art and fibreglass sculptures.
Akash Choyal commenced with three-dimensional art before moving to sculpture, he proclaims 3-D to be his base from which he is able to derive his ideas. As an artist, he finds the realm of dreams a highly inspirational derivative and strives to draw from the dream state. He grasps images from the unconscious depths of his mind and brings them to surface by expressing them in various forms and shapes with a suitable symbolic apparatus. His prime concern till date has been to restructure realities and to unveil the hidden truth lying beneath the surface of the objective reality. His mediums range from finer constructions, etchings, papier mache, paperboards, video art and sculpture. Choyal’s art pieces have been exhibited at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, and at the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi.
