One of the finest of the early colour plate books of India.
Edward Orme, the noted engraver, was the print seller to George III and IV. He was one of "the most important publisher of illustrated books during the short golden age of printing.
Blagdon was a journalist and author. His Brief History of Ancient and Modern India came out in 3 x quarto volumes. It was reissued in 1813 as an appendix to Captain Thomas Williamson's European in India. He spearheaded and conceived various other publications.
This lot is over one hundred years old or National Art Treasure, cannot be exported out of India as per Antiques and Art Treasures Act, 1972.
