Description
This silver Nandi with its placid disposition is depicted resting on its haunches. This particular piece is designed and decorated elegantly with ornate details. The contours of the anatomy is realistic and its divine attributes are represented with the intricate bejeweled accoutrements around the neck.

The Nandi is known as the gate keeper and a staunch follower of the Hindu deity Shiva. The association of the god and the Nandi is deeply integrated therefore the presence of a statue of a Nandi at the entrance of many temples dedicated to Shiva is a frequent sight.
