Born in 1979, Dey’s acrylic on canvas usually comprise of a single voluminous figure that occupies most of the frame. While observing these vastly exaggerated subjects, one can observe who the masses fall prey to the allure of consumerism in modern day. There is a sense of hopeless loneliness that is an underlying theme in his works. The vibrant contrast in the colours used for the subject and those used for the background is purposely made to avoid any chance of a merge between the two. Apart from paintings he also works through sculptures. ‘Keep Smiling,’ ‘Multi View’ and ‘Through the Black Hole’ are some of his prominent works.
