Born in 1975 Nupur Kundu is an artist from New Delhi. She graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor in Fine Arts in Painting from College of Art, New Delhi. Her love of dancing and painting shaped her formative years and she has kept up with both her passions till date. She even managed to complete her Sangeet Bhaskar in Indian Classical dance along with her formal training in painting. Nupur Kundu is the recipient of the Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award for Fine Arts, 2008. She was also selected for the Junior Fellowship awarded by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India from 2011 to 2013. In the year 2014, she was awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award for the Best Contemporary Artist of the year. Her works are predominantly abstract in nature. Through years of practice, she has turned herself into a master colourist adept at making the viewers feel a range of emotions.

One of her first solo exhibition was held in 1999 at Art Indus Gallery, New Delhi. Some of her other solo exhibitions include ‘The Furious Purity’ at the Sumukha Art Gallery, Bangalore in 2007, ‘Summer Seas’ by Apparao Galleries, Gurgaon and ‘Palette Scapes’ by Gallery Artistmindz at J.W Marriot, Kolkata in 2017. She has also been a part of various important shows like the South Asian Youth Exhibition, Nagaland in 1995, the Annual Exhibition of the Birla Academy of Art and Culture, Kolkata in 2002 and 2006, the Annual show of DMG Art Mega Complex, New Delhi in 2005 and so on. The artist lives and works in New Delhi.
