Jamal Ahmed approaches his subjects with empathy and passion, immortalizing them in his impressionistic style. His technical command is impeccable and reflects in his drawings and paintings. Be it the semi nude female figure, the bearded fakir, magnificent landscape or a cluster of pigeons his paintings are filled with momentum and sheer gusto. The colour composition is minimal and subdue making his works almost poetic. His bold strokes chronicles the essence of the beauty of the human body in all its glory. His portraits take the viewers back to the realm of the European masters.

Jamal Ahmed was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh in the year in 1955. He graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh and completed his M.F.A. degree from Tsukoba University, Japan. He researched and specialised in oil painting while in Japan. He also spent time in Poland studying Art. He was a visiting faculty with the Art and Design Department at the North Carolina State University. He has had more than 50 solo exhibitions all over the world as is considered to be one of the most influencing Bangladeshi painters of his time. Jamal Ahmed is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. The Artist lives & works in Dhaka.
