Prandeep Kalita graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from the Government College of Art and Craft, Guwahati. He finished his Master’s in the year 2004 from M.S University, Baroda. He consecutively participated in the Annual Exhibitions of the Government College of Art and Craft from the year 1997 to 2001. In 2002 he had his debut solo show at the Gallery Earth Song in Guwahati. Another important group exhibition that the artist participated in was the ‘Political and Social Injustice - Trends in Contemporary India’ at the Aakriti Gallery, Kolkata in 2011. In this particular exhibition, Kalita’s works served as a critique of hegemony how it always leads to corruption. Prandeep was selected for the short-term six month Asia Pacific Fellowship program at the National Art Studio, Changdong National Museum of Contemporary Art, Seoul in 2013. During the fellowship, Kalita mainly used paper, video projection and acrylic as the primary medium.
