Born in 1973 the artist Manoj Vyloor hails from Kochi, Kerala. He received his B.F.A in painting with a distinction from the College of Fine Arts, Kerala University. From the year 1995 to 1997 he studied printmaking at the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S University, Baroda and Ecole Nationale Superieur des Beaux-Arts, Paris. He had his first ever solo exhibition at the Chitram Art Gallery, Kochi in 1996 titled ‘Enduring Dreams’. In the month of January 1997, he had a solo exhibition titled ‘Travaux Parisiens’ at Galerie Bernanos, Paris presented by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In his work, he draws inspiration from various themes revolving around love, lust, agony and ecstasy. He uses a special technique of combining charcoal drawing with acrylic painting thereby lending a psychedelic effect to his works. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Painting, Government College of Fine Arts, Thrissur.
