The VII Rajput Regiment was an infantry regiment of the British Indian Army. It was formed in 1922, after the government decided to reform the army moving away from the single battalion regiment to multi battalion regiment. After Independence it was allocated to the new Indian Army and was renamed the Rajput regiment. During British rule several members of Indian royal families were given commission in the Indian Army. This specific lot was made by the royal family for their prince who joined the regiment. 4 cm. in length and 18 grams in weight.

Lot 56 AN INDIAN SILVER THREE PIECE TEA SET WITH SIX SILVER TEA SPOONS
The Burmese Repoussé Silver Bowl is beautifully made by embossing and engraving episodes from either Jataka tales, or previous lives of the
Buddha, that are familiar to the people of Burma. The shape is inspired by the alms bowls of the Buddha and his monks that were used to gratefully
accept offerings of rice or food for the morning meal.
This type of elegant object was used for many utilitarian and decorative purposes in aristocratic Burmese homes and greatly admired and collected by the English Victorian civil service stationed there. The main pictorial scene is a band of repeating leaves, often acanthus leaves, which extend to the underside of the bowl. This bottom band acts as a visual
ground on which the depictions rest on.
The stories depicted come from several sources including: the Ramayana, the Zodiac and folk tales. The Ramayana is a Sanskrit epic which, in the Burmese version, tells the story of the previous lives of Buddha. Although there are many stories contained within the Ramayana, Burmese
silversmiths usually depicted one of ten primary legends.

This very fine and intricate teapot or ewer is from Nepal and dates to the late 19th century. Most likely of Newar craftsmanship, most probably it was intended for the Tibetan market. The teapot comprises a heavy, silver body to which four parcel-gilt silver plaques repoussed with garudas and dragons have been fixed. Finely
engraved peony blossoms, foliage and stems against a tooled background. The baluster-form neck is engraved and chased with more peony motifs as well as other foliate borders. The domed lid is similarly decorated and surmounted by a foliate finial. The spout comprises a makara disgorging the remainder of the spout, and the
handle, a similar mythical horned and whiskered beast. The lid is attached to the body by a chain.
